Donor Advised Funds

Support Us Through a Donor-Advised Fund

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account that enables charitably-inclined individuals, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock, and in some cases certain illiquid assets to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. These types of accounts offer a number of tax and planning benefits.

How DAFs Work

  • Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. You will have the ability to advise on investment allocation and charitable distributions.
  • Investment growth is tax free.
  • Recommend charitable distributions in the form of grants to the IEEE Foundation and make arrangements for account distribution upon your passing.
  • Nominating the IEEE Foundation as a successor for your DAF qualifies you for entry into the IEEE Goldsmith Legacy League.

If you are with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable or BNY Mellon you can recommend a grant to the IEEE Foundation using the DAF Direct Widget above. The designation field allows you to indicate if your gift is being made in honor/memory of someone, or if it is for general/program support. This is not a required field, and gifts with no designation will be credited toward the IEEE Foundation Fund.

If your DAF provider is not listed, please contact the host of your DAF directly to recommend a grant.
