MOVE International - A GLOBAL PROGRAM

IEEE's MOVE (Mobile Outreach Volunteer Engagement) Disaster Relief and Outreach, is an emergency response program committed to assisting first-responders of natural disasters with short-term communications, computer, and power solutions. Working in concert with in-country IEEE volunteers and disaster-area deployment partners, the IEEE MOVE program is committed to assisting victims of natural disasters. These temporary emergency relief provisions provide critical services to help disaster-responders stay connected and make sure they can access the help they need.

How to Give

MOVE Global
Implemented on a national or regional basis, IEEE MOVE International realizes it's mandate by establishing independent MOVE programs in regions of the world prone to major disasters. Current expansion is taking place in India and the Caribbean, and other global locales are under consideration. The individualized program develops locale-appropriate vehicle hardware to provide power and communications resources immediately after a disaster.

The MOVE program works in coordination with a “Deployment Partner.” The Deployment Partner is a formally recognized agency empowered by a government authority to act as a first responder to a major emergency such as a natural disaster. In the United States, the Deployment Partner is the Red Cross.

IEEE MOVE also provides STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) Education Outreach. When not deployed for disaster relief efforts, the IEEE MOVE assets are taken to schools, community events, and other venues to educate the public—showcasing leading technologies and raising awareness about the positive impact these technologies have on society.
