HKN and IEEE Celebrating the 15th Merger Anniversary
IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) is the international honor society of IEEE. Founded in 1904 at the University of Illinois, HKN merged with IEEE in 2010, providing both organizations with opportunities for growth and expansion. HKN membership is lifelong and is conferred upon individuals who have excelled in fields like electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science. With over 280 collegiate chapters worldwide and 200,000+ members, HKN encourages and recognizes excellence in education, professional practice, and meritorious work within IEEE’s designated fields of interest.

The merger is being celebrated all year long, and cake has been cut at several IEEE gatherings, including SouthEastCon, IEEE Regions 1 and 2 meetings, IEEE Life Members conference, and IEEE CompSac. IEEE-HKN is also marking this milestone in the October issue of THE BRIDGE magazine as well as working with the IEEE Foundation, on a special anniversary donation campaign, The Power of 15.
