Community Fundraiser

Setting Up Your Community Fundraiser

To create your Community Fundraiser page and start making an impact on IEEE and IEEE Foundation Programs:

1. Visit the #IEEEGivingTuesday hub, and click on the program you want to fundraise for.
2. Click the orange “Start Fundraising” button in the right column (desktop) or under the “Share” button (mobile).
3. Select “Sign Up” to create a JustGiving account. Note: this account will not be connected to your ieee.org account.
4. Choose if you would like your Community Fundraising to be “In Memory” of someone (follow the prompts, if yes).
5. Select “Just Fundraising” on the “Are you taking part in an activity?” page.
6. Select “No occasion” on the “Are you fundraising for an occasion?” page.
7. Choose a goal for your Community Fundraiser - we suggest $1,000!
8. Add content to your page:
   • Title - Pick something that reflects you and the program you are raising money for. For example, Help Jane Scale Electrical Humanitarian Projects
   • Compelling story - Share a little bit about why you care so much about this program. For example: This year, for #IEEEGivingTuesday, I am asking my friends and family to support a very worthy program that solves some of the world’s most complex global issues through technology. The IEEE-USA MOVE Community Outreach program seeks to support relief efforts after natural disasters by providing response teams and affected communities with short-term connectivity and electricity solutions.
   • Choose a short URL that is easy to copy/paste into social media to share with friends!
9. On the next page, you can use our template cover photo, but also consider uploading your own photo to make this more personalized and improve fundraising. A photo of you volunteering for the program, a photo from the program’s website, or just a photo of you will help make your page more appealing. There is also an option to upload a video—consider recording your call for donations and using the video as your cover photo!
10. Check the blue box on the next page, if you want to receive updates from us on your fundraising - including some helpful hints. Then hit “Launch My Page!”
11. Now you are ready to start fundraising, but here are some helpful tips:
    • On your Community Fundraiser, half way down the page, there is a “Share Your Page” section that helps you get the word out about your favorite program and ask others to help support.
    • When you are logged in and navigate to your Community Fundraiser page, you can click the “Manage Page” button at the top at any point to change your page settings (update story, change cover photo, etc.).
    • There is also a place, near the bottom of your Community Fundraiser page, where you can post updates to your page. You can share program photos, fundraising status of #IEEEGivingTuesday, and more!
