Celebrate was the word of the day

Together the IEEE Foundation and IEEE Awards celebrated awardees, guests, sponsors and donors at the Honoree Reception prior to the IEEE Honors Ceremony.

Fred Mintzer, IEEE Foundation Vice President of Programs, Stephen Welby, IEEE Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, and Richard Cox, IEEE Awards Board Chair, hosted the 2019 IEEE medalists and honorees whose engineering achievements are driving our society forward in ways never imagined even 50 years ago.

The evening was a celebration for many reasons: we feted a very diverse group, with more female honorees than ever before; inaugurated the concept of a joint awardee reception with our partner IEEE Awards, and introduced the philanthropic impact of the IEEE Foundation.

The joint reception afforded everyone the opportunity to learn more about the IEEE Foundation, and the wide variety of philanthropic opportunities across IEEE in which they can engage, both as a volunteer and a donor, as well as an update on the Realize the Full Potential of IEEE Campaign. With more than 67% of all funds raised to date in support of the many programs funded by the Campaign, including the fund which enables the awarding of the IEEE Haraden Pratt Award, the IEEE Founders Medal and IEEE’s highest award, the IEEE Medal of Honor.
