Grants Awarded in 2011

The IEEE Foundation awarded 41 grants totaling almost $655,000. Your donations make it possible for the IEEE Foundation Grants Committee and IEEE Life Members Committee to fund projects of interest to IEEE members. Grants are awarded through the IEEE Foundation General Fund, the IEEE Life Members Fund and the IEEE Humanitarian Technology Fund. Grants are listed alphabetically by Fund.

IEEE Symposium on Pre-University Teacher Training a project of IEEE Educational Activities was awarded $35,000 for improving math, science and technology education and diversity in the profession from pre-university through continuing education. IEEE Region 5 - Southwestern U.S.

Increasing Elementary Student Performance in STEM a project of Harwich Elementary School, Massachusetts, was awarded $9,850 for programs to introduce pre-university students to engineering and science. IEEE Region 1 - Northeastern U.S.

Performance Engineering - Energy Invitational a project of Vital Link was awarded $25,000 for programs to introduce pre-university students to engineering and science. IEEE Region 5 - Southwestern U.S.

Educating Nicaraguan Youth as Solar Technicians a project of Institute for Development, Evaluation, Assistance and Solutions (IDEAS) was awarded $30,000 -- $6,500.00 from LMF and $23,500.00 from HTF for improving math, science and technology education and diversity in the profession from pre-university through continuing education. IEEE Region 9 - Latin America.

Fisherman's Friend - A GPS Based Control for Boats a project of Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology was awarded $294 for using technology for humanitarian causes. IEEE Region 10 - Asia and Pacific.
